When Anaré Holmes was a teenager growing up in Wisconsin, he and his family traveled to Atlanta for a summer vacation. He remembers being awestruck by a mega highway abuzz with Black people driving expensive cars and a skyline full of the tallest buildings he had ever seen. It was at that moment he thought he’d one day call Atlanta home.

“I saw a lot of affirmation for an upwardly mobile and ambitious kind of person,” Holmes said. “I thought, ‘This would be a good fit for me.’”
