Influx of development means more residents downtown

Development, particularly on the residential side, is plentiful in downtown Atlanta. According to Central Atlanta Progress (CAP), 600 housing units and 260 student housing beds came online in 2021, with approximately 1,300 units under construction and another 2,500 units in the planning or development stages over the next five years. Over the last five years, downtown Atlanta has added 2,250 housing units, and residential growth in the area is outpacing the previous five years by almost 70%, according to CAP data.
